 General Meeting- February 2nd, 2012       President Carolyn Dill opened the meeting at 4:30

Announcements/New Business

Dues: To date the travel club has 103 paid members.  Annual dues are $5.00/person.

Treasurer’s Report: Jim Sheridan gave us the treasurer’s report. Currently the travel club has $1,635.88 in its account.

March Meeting: The next meeting will be on March 1st at 4:30 in the west ballroom. 

  • Update on 2012 Trips:  South America on Holland America’s Veendeem. March 2012.  Two people have signed up. 
  • The September 2012 Tahiti Luxury Cruise aboard the Paul Gauguin currently has two people signed up.
  • The Group Golf Cruise-March 2012 HAL Oosterdam has fourteen people signed up.
  • California Wine Country Tour April 2012 is now closed.
  • Alaska Cruise Tour-June 14, 2012- Eleven day cruise aboard Holland America  Zaandam- Denali to Anchorage to Vancouver-Paradise Adventure Group- Lynn Goldstein- two people have signed up
  • Kiel Canal and Baltic Treasures- July 24th –August 8th ,2012-Holland American Prisendam-Amsterdam to Amsterdam- 6 travelers- Paradise Adventure Group- Lynn Goldstein
  • Possible trip to Branson in November- more details will be given at future meetings

2013 Trips:                         

  • Grand Circle-Eastern Europe to the Black Sea
  • February Cruise-Royal Caribbean- Tim and Emily Bailey of Cruise Planners

President Carolyn Dill commented about a possible trip to Branson in November 2012 and the success of the seventh annual cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas.  Sixty-three people went on this cruise and all had a good time. President Dill promised pictures and cruise stories at a future meeting.

 Program- Tim and Emily Bailey spoke about the cruise being planned for February 2013 aboard the Carnival Magic.  The dates of this cruise are Feb. 10-17, 2013. It will leave from Galveston going to Key West continue to Freeport and on to Nassau coming back to Galveston. A video was shown to the group which gave information about the ship, activities on board, fine dining experiences to be had and entertainment by Hal Glitzer.  In addition, Mr. Bailey gave information about departure and debarkation. Prices for this cruise range from $823.78 for an inside cabin to $1,763.78 for a junior suite. He stressed the importance of booking early to get the cabin you want.  More detailed information will be given at future meetings. He also presented information about Voyages to the Heartland of America from the Great American Steamboat Company. A video was presented which gave information about the beautiful American Queen, the largest steamboat ever built.  Mississippi River cruises offer an opportunity to experience a vacation filled with history, elegance and adventure. Door prizes:  Door prizes were given out. Penny Schofield, Rick Rickards, and Carol Boone won tote bags and Samsonite travel accessories.

President Carolyn Dill adjourned the meeting at 5:45.
